Lower Manhattan seen across the East River from a Brooklyn waterfront path

NORTH AMERICA · UNITED STATES · 3 DAYS

A new sceneon every block

From a Brooklyn morning to the Manhattan night.
Three days connected one neighborhood at a time.

ROUTE

01

The destination is only
half of New York.

I chose one or two areas each day and used the subway only for the longer gaps. Instead of stacking observation decks and shows, I left room for parks, sidewalks and neighborhood tables. The city changes mood with every few blocks.

FIELD NOTES

01

Transit

Subway and walking work best together. Weekend construction and service changes are common, so check the official transit feed.

02

Budget

Allow roughly $120–220 per day excluding flights and lodging. Remember that tax and tips may be added.

03

Carry

Comfortable shoes, a small water bottle and a battery pack are useful. Bring a light layer for changing weather.

04

Safety

Choose active, well-lit streets at night and avoid walking while focused only on your phone.
