Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge at sunrise from a waterfront path

OCEANIA · AUSTRALIA · 3 DAYS

Between cityand sea

From a quiet harbour morning to the waves at Bondi.
Three days following sunlight, ferries and the coast.

ROUTE

01

In Sydney, every path
seems to find the water.

I gave each day to a different edge of the city: the harbour, the northern beaches and the eastern coast. The ferry became both transport and lookout. With strong midday sun, I walked early and late, leaving the middle of the day for shade.

DAY01THE HARBOUR ICONS

Circular Quay · The Rocks · Opera House

A first loop around the harbour joins Sydney’s best-known forms without rushing between them.

  1. Circular Quay

Check the day’s ferry board and get oriented from the wharves.

  2. The Rocks

Walk the sandstone lanes and check the market’s operating days.

  3. Gallery break

Use the hottest part of the day for an indoor exhibition and a rest.

  4. Opera House and gardens

Swim only in patrolled areas and follow the beach flags.

DAY03THE EASTERN COAST

Bondi · Bronte

Walk a manageable stretch of the cliff path rather than chasing the entire coastline.

  1. Bondi Beach

Arrive before the strongest sun and read the swimming conditions.

  2. Coastal walk

Keep behind cliff barriers and obey closure signs.

  3. Lunch near Bronte

Find shade, refill water and dispose of rubbish properly.

  4. Leave for the airport

Allow for peak traffic and rail disruptions.
